FACULTY AND STAFF DEVELOPMENT
Are you wondering how you can perfect your simulation teaching skills?
Teaching with Simulation is a week‐long course held in the simulation center twice per year. Participants learn strategies, techniques, and frameworks for coaching, feedback, and debriefing that can be immediately applied to the clinical setting. This course offers 35 AMA, PSNA credits and is open to all Penn State Health employees at a discounted rate.

Reviews from our recent learners:
“There was little “dead” time. The whole week was well run, well organized. I appreciate having multiple instructors and lots of interaction.”

“Excellent facilities. Instructors are knowledgeable and great teachers. Simulation technologists are great and helpful.”

“This was the single best educational activity I have participated in.” The thought put into it and effort was obvious and translated to a highly impactful week. This changed my life. Thank you so much!”

“This course was completely transformational. I have learned so much and feel inspired to incorporate the concepts from this course into my practices. The content was thought provoking, and the instructors were encouraging and personable”

To register for this course, please go to Penn State EEDS at Portal – Live Events (eeds.com) or contact Terry Brosche with any questions.

SIM TECH INNOVATION
Lisa Mackley (Sim Center Technologist) created many homemade props over the years to help bring simulations to life. Lisa’s creativity & curious mindset combined with her years of simulation experience enables her to envision and build innovative “sim props,” that assist the learners in suspending disbelief during simulations. There is now a Sim Center catalog that houses pictures of Lisa’s creations. Here are a few examples:

WHAT SIM CENTER USERS ARE SAYING#
From Liz Holbert regarding the Standardized Patients (SPs) participating in the nursing session on February 7th; “I also wanted to share, the facilitator raved about Chelsea and Eva and the NAS simulation. Please thank them on behalf of my team 😊”
From Dr. Jason Loeffert after the Wilderness Medicine Boot Camp:
“….I want to thank you again for the assistance coordinating the SPs last week. They all did an incredible job. It is so enjoyable and valuable for our fellows. As always, the most appreciated things are the quality of the acting, the realness of the moulage, and the ridiculousness of the distractor patient in the mass casualty scenario. She was awesome! Thanks again, see your team next year!!”

MESSAGE FROM OUR MANAGER
There is a vast amount of literature to demonstrate the value of simulation and the impact it can have on outcomes for an individual, a group, and a system. We are here to provide service and consultation to meet your educational needs. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions.
